Using Communication Aids

I was 31 years of age before I got my first electronic communication aid, a Liberator, and that machine, difficult as it was to learn and use, really did "liberate" me. It's impossible to describe to anyone who has always been able to speak what it is like to have so many thoughts, feelings and ideas locked in your head and be unable to share them. Yes, I could communicate my basic needs to those who knew me well, but not much beyonf that.
